What are the rules to follow if I am isolation when I go to post my voting papers?
You must:
- travel directly, without stopping, to a roadside Australia Post box;
- return immediately to their place of quarantine or isolation after posting their voting papers (except if they are authorised to leave quarantine under the Emergency Management (COVID-19 Requirements)(Consolidated Measures) Direction 2022); and
- travel in their car alone or with someone else who is also quarantining at the same location (all people in the car must wear a mask at all times).
I am in isolation and residing at a location where it is impracticable to receive voting papers. Can I still vote?
Yes. You can have voting papers issued to you personally by an Electoral Officer by calling the ECSA call centre (1300 655 232). You need to:
- provide the Electoral Officer their name, electoral number and enrolled district; and
- maintain a 1.5 metre distance away from the Electoral Officer and wear a mask at all times.
I am in isolation and residing at a location outside of my electoral district. Can I still vote?
Yes. If you are isolating outside of the electoral district you may register by calling the ECSA call centre 1300 655 232 to collect declaration voting papers from an alternative ballot pack pickup point as directed by ECSA.
I have missed the time to apply for voting papers, can I still vote?
What are Voting arrangements for a person in COVID-19 isolation or quarantine in a medi-hotel or COVID Accommodation Support Centre?
A person in COVID-19 isolation or quarantine in a medi-hotel, COVID Accommodation Support Centre (ASC) or hospital may request to be issued declaration voting papers from the electoral officer at the medi-hotel, COVID ASC or hospital and return their completed voting papers to the officer in a sealed envelope.
What do I do if my period of quarantine or isolation ends before/after polling day?
A person may not leave isolation in order to post their vote if:
- your isolation or quarantine ends on the day after polling day, then you can simply post your vote after that date; or
- your isolation or quarantine ends on the day before polling day, then you can attend a polling booth on polling day.
