There have been two new cases of COVID-19 today, both reported from a medi-hotel. There have been a total of 576 cases notified in South Australia. New border restrictions come into effect at 12:01 am on 1 January.
Today’s cases are a man in his 20’s who has recently returned from overseas and a woman in her 20’s who is a close contact from a previous case. Both cases have been in a medi-hotel since their arrival.
Further testing on a case from Victoria has confirmed an old infection that was already reported in Victoria. This case has been removed from SA's total.

All South Australians who have symptoms of COVID-19 should get tested on the day symptoms appear. Symptoms include:
- fever or chills (in the absence of an alternative illness that explains these symptoms)
- an acute respiratory infection e.g. cough, sore throat, runny nose, or shortness of breath
- loss of smell or alteration in the sense of taste.
