South Australia Police (SAPOL) have issued a new Emergency Direction relating to Thebarton Senior College, which will be closed until 15 August after it was linked to the state's latest COVID-19 case.

Thebarton Senior College is a government school in Torrensville, west of Adelaide city, which has a large number of adult students.

A woman in her 20s, linked to the Thebarton cluster, has been diagnosed with COVID-19. This takes the total number of cases linked to this cluster to five. She will be required to isolate in a medi-hotel.

Yesterday, SA Health appealed to anyone who attended Thebarton Senior College on Thursday 30 and Friday 31 July to self-isolate and seek testing.

After contact tracing, around 70 close contacts are required to quarantine in a medi-hotel.

Around 1,100 casual contacts are required to self-isolate until Saturday 15 August.

The new Direction applies to any person, including any student, employee or contractor of Thebarton Senior College, who attended the College, on 29, 30 or 31 July 2020.

Anyone who attended the College on one or more of those days must travel directly to their place of residence and remain there, isolated and segregated from others for a 14-day period commencing on the last day they attended the school, and follow all reasonable directions from a treating medical practitioner.
