People living in supported accommodation

To protect both the broader community and people living in supported accommodation from COVID-19, aged care, mental health and disability service providers can now apply for approval to restrict the movements of a resident, where that resident may be at risk of contracting or spreading the virus.

Any application will consider previous measures applied to try and mitigate the risks, along with the individual’s background.

Approval can be granted for up to 28 days, and any extension beyond that initial 28 day period will need to be considered by the South Australian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

Where the Public Advocate is the protected person’s guardian, the completed application form must be sent to OPAMailbox@sa.gov.au.

Where a private guardian has been appointed, the below application form can be used, but this is not mandatory.

Where there is no guardian appointed, an application must be lodged with the Authorising Officer at AuthorisingOfficer@sa.gov.au
